Last week, Sarah Burke and I went with the Roxy crew for a press preview of  Roxy’s 11/12 snow line. We had high hopes of seeing a Broadway show and seeing the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Met but tickets to Book of Mormon are sold out until September and we were so busy running around doing interviews and showing the line, (which, by the way, looks awesome) that we barely had time to shop. My other mission in New York was to look for inspiration for my next line and NYC is the best place for that! So much eye candy to take in. I also had a chance to meet with the hard good designers to fine tune some details for my next years board (which, also look awesome). Such a productive and inspiring trip and now that I’ve had a week at home I’m ready to go back. I heart New York!

The week-long NSSA National Championships completed atHuntington Beach pier on July 3rd. Roxy Team rider Tatiana Weston-Webb continued to stack up the National titles after dominating the Surfing America Championships last week. The conditions were tough to work with, but standout Weston-Webb shined in the Explorer Girls division and took home another first, with a 13.67 total. In the Explorer Women’s she finished strong with a 13.93, placing second to Leila Hurst. The two battled it out in the Open Women’s Mayors Cup final, and Tatiana surfed her way to second place. In the Open Girls final, Tatiana also placed second, finishing the event with four national results.

Roxy Rider Alisha Gonsalves also fought her way through the tough conditions and surfed in the Explorer Womens final with Taitiana Weston-Webb. The heat was slow and the waves did not come through in most of the heat, and Alisha took home a 6th in the final.

Starting humbly as a nameless project in a downtown Sioux Falls, South Dakota apartment, We All Have Hooks for Hands soon developed into a full-fledged, gigging band. The six-piece group’s latest release is the Girls EP, the title track of which is a joyous romp full of power pop guitar fills, fuzzy keyboard riffs, soaring trumpet, and – you guessed it – a chorus of girls on call-and-response vocal duties. Look for these Dakotans to break out of the Great Plains before long.
