Last week, Sarah Burke and I went with the Roxy crew for a press preview of  Roxy’s 11/12 snow line. We had high hopes of seeing a Broadway show and seeing the Alexander McQueen exhibit at the Met but tickets to Book of Mormon are sold out until September and we were so busy running around doing interviews and showing the line, (which, by the way, looks awesome) that we barely had time to shop. My other mission in New York was to look for inspiration for my next line and NYC is the best place for that! So much eye candy to take in. I also had a chance to meet with the hard good designers to fine tune some details for my next years board (which, also look awesome). Such a productive and inspiring trip and now that I’ve had a week at home I’m ready to go back. I heart New York!

The 2011 Chicken Jam is over and done with. Not exactly the weather we’d hoped for but I had so much fun to riding powder with the girls. The last night we went out to see Trouble and La Roux play up at Canyon lodge and ended up dancing the rest of the night away at The Hyde Lounge. Not a bad way to end an amazing weekend. In this latest installment of the Roxy Refreshments follow Robin Van Gyn, Erin Comstock and friends deep into the mountains of Silverton, Colorado. It’s a wintertime mecca for deep snow with a lawless old west charm that makes it arguably the most legit mountain town in the US- but beware, it is not for the faint of heart. A trip to Silverton involves braving a narrow road with no guardrail and a 2,000 foot vertical drop-off, mingling with the kind of suspect characters that wind up in hard to reach places, and the occasional run ins with wildlife. So if you have an adventurous spirit and enjoy snowy getaways, add Silverton, Colorado to your list of must tries, and if not, just watch this video and see what you’re missing.

A lot like elementary school recess, the best part about snowboarding is spending time with friends playing outside. Roxy team rider, Kjersti Buaas, has made a career of this lifestyle, traveling around the world snowboarding with friends, filming video parts and winning contests. With some of her best friends she started One Life, an all girl snowboard crew that lives every minute in the moment- kind of like that popular girl clique on the playground, but a whole lot friendlier and fun loving. In this episode of the Roxy Refreshments, Kjersti and the One Life crew head to Tahoe to live their dream. Last New Years Eve, while most of us were likely celebrating with friends at a noisy party, Roxy teamrider Erin Comstock boarded a plane and sped into the New Year, crossing time zones and international datelines, and touching down in the frozen city of Helsinki, Finland to kick off her season of filming with a bang. In near round the clock darkness and below freezing temps, Erin battled the elements, and with a little help from her friends, she had her most successful and fun trip to date. So to get fired up for the season to come, just tap up the volume and press PLAY.

I met up with the Roxy team Saturday morning at the Quiksilver office and I got my first look at my whip for the next week – the Roxy RV. I gotta say, I’m hella popular in this thing. At first I was confused by all the people staring, but within the first five minutes of driving downtown someone yelled “ROXXXXYYYYY, WOOOOOOOOOO!!!” and I realized it’s not me, it’s the RV… maybe I should drive this thing full time?!

First thing on the agenda? Shop tours of North Shore Girl, Showcase, Pacific Boarder, and Comor. Team riders Erin Comstock, Amber Stackhouse, Robyn Van Gyn and Sarah Burke arrived with Roxy cupcakes and swag.

I went to Austria in January for the European Roxy Chicken Jam to see what the girls were rocking this season. So if you’re needing some inspiration before you go out on the mountain, watch this.

Here in Utah today Brighton mountain opens for the first time- unfortunately I can’t make it, but I know Erin Comstock is up there dusting the rust off her edges on their jib line. Hopefully some of you readers are somewhere in the world where you too can enjoy a little early season shredding, even if it means hiking up a local sledding hill. But if you’re still waiting for the snow to start falling, here’s a new video to keep you fired up. The video features a trip we took in March with Snowbaorder Magazine (see the October issue) to a remote area of Northern California that had never been ridden before. Be sure to watch it to the very end, there’s a surprise waiting…

Hi everybody! This is Amber Stackhouse from the snowboard team. I woke up this morning to fresh snow in the mountains here in Salt Lake City, so if that’s any indication, it looks like it’s going to be a good snow season. While I’m not ready to say goodbye to summer weather just yet, I’m definitely looking forward to playing on my snowboard soon.

So in honor of winter’s early arrival, here’s a teaser for the new Refreshments snow team video series we have. Refreshments will be dropping all season long starting in November, featuring the likes of Torah Bright, Erin Comstock, myself, and Kjersti Buaas, as well a new batch of rising Roxy stars.

I helped make the videos, so if you have any questions or comments I can personally answer them for you.
