The only action isn’t happening in the surf, it’s also on the beach where ROXY team rider, former CT competitor and ROXY Outdoor Fitness athlete turned ultimate reporter, Rosy Hodge, is taking the charge as one of the official ASP commentators and the only female in the ranks! Go Rosy!
Breaking down the boards this week, asking he tough questions after some competitive heats and everything in between keeps Rosy a busy girl and someone we absolutely love seeing share her thoughts.
We caught up with Rosy on her regular route to the #ROXYpro Gold Coast and asked her about what she’s looking forward to most this season and how the first stop of the World Tour has been so far.
How’s it being the only girl in a group of guys?
Its pretty funny. I’ve worked with everyone before and its a bunch of people that I respect so its easy to work with them and its been pretty entertaining.
What was the word on the street about the women’s surfing after Day 1 at the ROXY Pro?
Everyone was calling the girls performance the best they have ever seen and there were a lot of comments about how all of the girls are the ‘complete’ package. I think this is going to be an exciting year for the girls with the prize money increase and the new stops on tour.
What stop(s) are you most looking forward to in 2014?
J Bay for sure! I love being on the Goldy at this time and I think the first stop on tour can be one of the most exciting because of the build up and anticipation around it.
We’ve heard you’ve had a couple great surfing days so far. Tell us about the BEST wave you’ve has this week?
Haha I have snuck in some sneaky sessions. I think the day they called the girls off after the 1/4s was the best. We had a commentators cup and I actually found a good rhythm and got some waves in the thick crowd. Best wave is any wave I get to myself out there:)
PS. We’re crowing a ROXY Pro winner today. Get ready to tune in here at 12:00pm AEST (local time).
