As we were feverishly tweeting away about Torah’s ESPY nomination and rallying the troops to “vote, vote vote!”, we kinda had a feeling she had this one in the bag. Maybe it was ESP, but we knew Torah would get her ESPY. What title did she add to her long list of awards during the ESPYs, which aired Wednesday July 14, 2010? “Best Female Action Sports Athlete“, of course!

Roxy Hits Japan

For the last 10 days the Roxy Product Manager Kyre Malkymes and myself (Robin Van Gyn) traveled Japan with the Advanced Marketing Group ( Roxy hard good distributor in Japan). Mike Miyazawa and his group of hosts took us around to some of Japans best snow parks for shredding and of course the Advanced Cup! The course at the contest was progressive and the riders ripped it a new one. We were really impressed with the riding and of course the resort. We spent tons of time rep-ing the boards, in the onson, and eating Japanese delights. The trip could not have gone by quicker, but I am sure we will be getting back there again soon, next time to ride some powder…

If you were in Mammoth this past weekend, chances are you may have had a Torah Bright sighting! Torah’s fans got a special treat this weekend when she had a signing for fans at the ROXY & Quiksilver store in The Village in Mammoth.

About 300 fans waited patiently in line – some even 2 hours before the signing started- to get her autograph. Thank you to all the patient fans. You get gold for dedication!

ROXY on the Mountain

Between watching the Superpipe and Slopestyle events, running into our own Torah Bright on the mountain, we got to sneak in some mountain time. We took up some of our favorite members of the press, and hired an instructor to help us perfect our carving moves.

Shakedown: Megan Whiteside Takes Third

Roxy team rider Megan Whiteside boosted to 3rd place at the Ride Shakedown big air this past weekend at Summit at Snowqualmie. Known for its massive jump size, the Shakedown is not for the faint-hearted or speed checker. After taking 2nd last year in Quebec, Megan was invited back to roll with the big boys once again impressing the judges. Not only did she take home a piece of the big air pie, but also earned 2nd in the rail jam.

U.S. Snowboarders to Visit Armenia as Sports Envoys

The U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs SportsUnited office, in partnership with Roxy, a brand of Quiksilver, is conducting a snowboarding Sports Envoy program in Armenia, March 3-7, 2010. Professional snowboarders and Roxy team riders Amber Stackhouse and Erin Comstock will be the first action sports athletes to be sent abroad as Sports Envoys by SportsUnited.

During their five-day trip, Stackhouse and Comstock will visit Yerevan and Tsaghkadzor. While in Yerevan, the Envoys will meet with middle school students, university film students, and female athletes to discuss the importance of participation in sports for women and girls. In Tsaghkadzor, the Envoys will conduct two snowboard clinics, give a snowboarding exhibition and judge a snowboard cross event.
