Thanks everyone for wishing @Sally_Fitz the best in Biarritz for the Roxy Pro July 10th-14th! Sally’s come so far this year, but lets rewind a few years back! Sally grew up with three older brothers and a dad who all surfed in the little town of Gerroa, on the south coast of New South Wales, Australia. She started surfing when she was about six years old, and it wasn’t long before she started competing and driving as far as the Gold Coast! “Some of my favorite memories come from those long trips up the coast with the family…We’re on a mission and that is where I credit a lot of my competitive drive from (pardon the pun)!”
This is an exciting new win to add to her growing list of victories as she chases the coveted world title this year.
Last night, Sally accepted the award claiming “It’s a bit of an honour!”, and we couldn’t agree more! Thanks to all her friends for nominating Sally and all of Sally’s fans for their online voting support!
Congratulations on winning the 2012 Billabong Rio Pro, Sally Fitzgibbons!
After 3 solid ASP wins this season, Sally Fitzgibbons’s off-season training and hard work are in her favor, and she is stronger than ever.
Still coming off a win at Bells Beach, Sally came in fired up for the event full of energy and a solid mindset. In the final round against Coco Ho, the waves were meager and difficult to pull off a high score, but Sally took over with a solid 7.93 with just a few minutes remaining.
Sally is on a roll! Stay tuned for the next event in Biarritz, the Roxy Pro! Download the app on your smartphone to watch Sally live.
Congratulations Sally Fitzgibbons, on Winning the Womens Rip Curl Pro at Bells Beach!
Last year, Sally faced 4-time World Champion Stephanie Gilmore in the semi-finals at Bells. Then she took out current World Champ Carissa Moore in the finals and captured her first WCT victory.
Today, Sally met Carissa Moore in the semi-finals at Bells, determined to ring that bell once again. She made it one step closer with her powerhouse turns and critical maneuvers in the pocket of the hard-to-read waves, taking out Carissa once again. Stephanie, just as fired up, took out rookie Tyler Wright in the semis.
Stephanie and Sally were neck and neck in the final, battling it out back and forth every minute. In the last few minutes, Sally took the lead after bettering her top scoring wave. Stephanie managed to catch one last wave, but was unable to top Sallys score. Sally Fitzgibbons wins the heat!
Congratulations Sally on your win at the 2012 Women’s Rip Curl Pro at Bells for the second year in a row!
Sally is well on her way to that world title!!
