Surf Night at Sunset Elementary
By Mia | Published December 10th, 2008
December 6th was a very special night on the North Shore. The entire community came out to celebrate “Surf Night” at Sunset Elementary.
“Surf Night” is a fundraiser for the music program at the school. At least 50 top surfers were there, showing their support to the kids, school and community. Roxy team riders Kelia Moniz, Laura Enever and Bruna Smitz, signed over 400 posters for the kids!
There was a great turn out. Lines to get into the fundraiser stretched all around the school. People waited for hours to get in! It’s cool because a lot of the surfers signing autographs were in the student’s shoes a couple of years ago.
The result is music to our ears! Over $12,000 was raised and along with other fundraising efforts throughout the year, they now have enough money to support a music teacher and the music program for the entire year!!!

Our day in Haleiwa
By fariabeach | Published December 9th, 2008Aloha~
Waves were coming up so we decided to head over to shoot Haleiwa. Haleiwa is a great wave where the surfers can get in powerful turns and test their skills. We all had a great time, and experienced something different. First off, Sally had amazing waves but then as she was paddling back out she got caught inside and landed on the reef. She is such a legend that she still surfed for 2 hours with the scraped on her back. Then, Bruna Shmitz was also having a blast on her 5′11 shortboard, catching amazing waves….yep on her way paddling back out a set wave broke her board into 2 pieces, and that was her FAVORITE board! She came back in and grabbed another board then continued to surf for over an hour. My girls are so amazing and just love surfing SO much!!! Now, Laura Enever had a different experience; she surfed 2 sessions each were well over an hour, then came in to tandem surf with our new Roxy girl Melia Gore who is 6. Words just can’t explain how CUTE and jaw dropping this was!!

In the Quarter finals we have Roxy’s Sofia Mulanovich, Megan Abubo, Sally Fitzgibbons, and Lee Anne Curren all hoping to get thru to the Final. Here are their thought on surfing Sunset…..

Roxy Pro Hawaii has started!!!
By fariabeach | Published November 28th, 2008Aloha~
We woke up to a massive swell with great conditions, so the Roxy Pro started with the Trialist heat and through to the end of Round 2. The trials went great, this next generation of girls are definitely stepping up. Check out this you-tube of how scary Sunset can be, trust me I paddled out to "caddy" for Sally Fitzgibbons and I had nervous belly that a close out wave would get me!!
