Roxy in Vancouver: Day 2

By Jodi Day | Published February 17th, 2010

Driving through the downtown streets getting to see all the people from the RV point of view is pretty awesome. I went down to the Quiksilver Store on Granville street where Christina Culver was giving Roxy Cheer Manicures. If you’re in Vancouver, stop by the Quiksilver store (820 Granville Street) from now until February 20th for your free Roxy Cheer Manicure.

Roxy in Vancouver: Shop Tours

By Jodi Day | Published February 14th, 2010

I met up with the Roxy team Saturday morning at the Quiksilver office and I got my first look at my whip for the next week – the Roxy RV. I gotta say, I’m hella popular in this thing. At first I was confused by all the people staring, but within the first five minutes of driving downtown someone yelled “ROXXXXYYYYY, WOOOOOOOOOO!!!” and I realized it’s not me, it’s the RV… maybe I should drive this thing full time?!

Roxy in Vancouver: Opening Ceremonies

By Jodi Day | Published February 13th, 2010

The Opening Ceremonies gave me many ideas for my next birthday party (April 29th). 1) Have a giant drum for banging and dancing on. 2) Definitely have an epic light show. 3) Unlimited shirtless handsome men wearing wolf hat/capes. You may have noticed only one of these babes at the Opening Ceremonies… My party is going to be better.

What athletes would I invite to my party? Well, Solely based on outfits, the guest list would be as follows

Andorra: well done with their casual cool pattern. I guarantee these guys would show up with gifts.

2b

Australia: I am partial to black & white and these guys looked goooood.

3

4

Austria & Great Britain: I like the preppy/school uniform look they both had… I wasn’t fooled though, these guys would be the first to dance on my giant drum.

5b

5

Germany: The retro vest with the bright colors reminded me of what my dad used to wear skiing. Of course my Dad can come to this party.

8

Mexico: By far the best outfit. Totally casual parka with a fur hood. classic. cool. Sending them an invite right now.

6

Honorable Mention: Canada. I squinted my eyes and imagined they were wearing plaid shirts, black jeans, and fur hats – which made them look like most of my friends and I wanted them all at my jam jam of the year.

7

Donald Sutherland, yes Jack Bauer’s Dad, was one of eight that carried out the flag. He is coming to my party so my Dad has someone cool to hang out with.

Roxy in Vancouver: Introduction

By Jodi Day | Published February 12th, 2010

Hello – I’m Jodi. I will be your local blog host reporting live from the games in Vancouver. I’m responsible for driving the Roxy team around on the Roxy bus and bringing all of  YOU an exclusive look at all the behind the scenes action.

I call Vancouver home and my Mom was a bus driver when I was little, so you are all in good hands. I have never seen my city so alive and I’m excited to share it with you. You won’t have to just take my word for it either, I’m going to show you the buzz through the lens of my Canon DSLR.

Spice Your Lunch Bag Up with a Fun Tote

By Jennifer Andrews | Published February 4th, 2010

My good friend, Ashley, and I have more than in common than we ever knew!  Both of our moms have the same inherent ability to pick up something insanely useful and yet totally chic for their daughters (us!). Case in point: our awesome Blue Q lunch bags that we are both slightly obsessed with. The bags are cool because they are reusable (also made from recycled materials!) and allow us add a little bit of style to an otherwise boring lunch tote. I swear I get more compliments on my “Owl” tote than I could ever imagine…and I love it. Thanks Mom! Blue Q has a great selection of lunch bags you can find here.

My Workstation Buddy

By Sarah Cameron | Published December 16th, 2009

One of the cutest joys of our office lately is Lewis - our little office Mascot at the Vancouver office.

He has been in and out of the office for the last couple of months and how can you not think he is the most adorable little creature. Lewis is a pekingese x chihuahua and probably the most unique doggie I have seen of his type. I was searching on Google to see if there were other dogs that resembled him – but nothing! He is one of kind. He’ll make you smile every time you see him.

Roxy Loves Ry Cuming

By Mia | Published November 18th, 2009

ry

Roxy loves Ry Cuming.

Catch him this FRIDAY at Pinkberry in Hermosa, Beach, CA where he will be performing live! The concert is from 7 – 9 pm.

From Ry Cuming.com:

Born in the small coastal Australian town of Angourie, Ry grew up with a surfboard under one arm and his Dad’s record collection under the other. He quickly developed a love for many different styles of music from Marvin Gaye and Stevie Wonder to The Beatles and The Police.  His voracious appetite for music grew while his wide and varied tastes began to mold the sound and style that is uniquely Ry Cuming.

Armed with an acoustic guitar and undeniably soulful voice, Ry’s professional music career began to take shape as an 18 year-old traveler and surfer in Costa Rica. One fateful afternoon while playing in the hallway of a hotel for some female pro surfers (Ry is an avid surfer himself), Ry met a young film producer from LA who was taken by his talent and happened to have some very good connections.  He became the catalyst for Ry’s journey into the LA music scene, introducing him to a network of musicians that were starting to gain momentum in the area…Maroon 5, Phantom Planet, and Rooney.  Ry was now in very good company and was quickly noticed by major label JIVE records, where he recently signed a new, exclusive recording contract.  He has just finished his debut album, due out in the spring of 2010, but as a Roxy fan you get a special sneak peak!!

Ry has already won two of Australia’s Dolphin Awards for Best Pop Song and Best New Artist, was recently featured on NBC’s EXTRA and MTV’s LAGUNA BEACH: The Real OC, has been seen in the pages of VogueMagazine, AND been featured in two films including a Quiksilver production about the Mentawai Islandsand alongside Maroon 5 and Jimmy Buffett in the motion picture HOOT.

Ry Cuming is about to make some BIG waves in the US and around the world!!!
