Tic Tac Toes #ROXYsandals DIY

Tic Tac Toe(s) #ROXYsandalsPlaying games on the beach between surf breaks and surf snacks is one of our favorite things to do in the summertime. We decided to start DIY’ing and came up with ‘Tic Tac Toes(s) in the sand #ROXYsandals’ and put our creativity to good use!

This DIY is super easy and well worth the 20 minutes it takes to make! All you need is a remnant piece of fabric (about the size of a pillow case or an old shirt), masking tape, paint, a straight edge, pencil, and some game pieces. We used some starfish and seashells in place of our X’s and O’s.

Office Spy: Meet Senior Graphic Designer for Ecomm Becca K.

Roxy Office Spy! Becca K.

Meet Becca K., Roxy’s in house Graphic Designer and  Roxy’s ‘unofficial’ historian with a collection of vintage hangtags, magazine clippings and other Roxy memorabilia that had all of us Roxy girls taking a trip down memory lane.

Have you ever been curious about what a Graphic Designer’s workspace looks like? Have a look at Becca’s workspace and see what inspires her!

1. ROXY: Tell us about your job and how your work ends up on Roxy.com

Becca:  I’m the Senior Graphic Designer for Roxy E-commerce, so it’s my job to take the marketing campaigns and bring them to life on Roxy.com! I work closely with marketing to become familiar with the story we want to tell, and then work with the web team to create wireframes for the site, the merchandisers to make sure we are showing the correct products, and the developers to make sure the designs are pixel perfect when they transition from being in my hands to being up on the site.

2. ROXY: What’s this?

Becca: When I was 14 I wrote a letter to Roxy telling them what a big fan I was and asked them to send me some stickers. They actually wrote back and sent me some stickers that came in this amazing envelope that I’ve saved for almost 14 years! When I’m having a bad day at work I look at this to keep myself inspired and remind myself about my passion for this brand.

3.  ROXY: How long have you been collecting? What is your favorite?

Becca: I started saving anything with the Roxy logo on it since I was about 12, when I bought my first Roxy piece (I think it was a t-shirt) and I fell in love with the hang tag. I’ve saved every hang tag from every Roxy item I’ve ever bought, along with ads from magazines, posters, stickers, etc. I recently met a fellow designer and Roxy fan online – she followed my personal blog and learned about my love for vintage Roxy and sent me a bunch of amazing ads, books and posters for my collection, all the way from France! It was a great addition to my Roxy archives – thanks Julie!

4.  ROXY: Any cool projects that you’re working on that you can share with us?

Becca: Even though I’m a web designer, one of my favorite parts of my job is when I get to work in the photo studio to create assets for a product trend story like the Mix & Make your own bikini tool!

5. Becca: I love to draw so I try to incorporate my illustrations whenever possible, like the Spring Break promo where I sketched activities to do at each destination, or the holiday and Valentine ’s Day card you might have seen here on the blog!

6. Becca’s desk space

7. Desk essentials—gold & pink seashells!

Buh Bye Beach, Hello Coachella

Roxy Goes to Coachella!

For those of you making last minute decisions on your Coachella weekend 1 (or 2) wardrobe, we’re doing the same. Here’s one desert-worthy look that will keep you beach-chic and ready for music and musings. To start, grab a pair of printed shorts and play a bit with texture by wearing a cropped crochet number like the Look and See tank. This top will layer well with everything including your bikini top! We recommend going for something with embroidery detailing and a bright pop of color like the Radiate Love Tiki Tri! Don’t forget your #ROXYsandals, a little eye protection, and top it all off with the perfect flower crown or 31 Bits accessories! We’ll see you in the desert.

Kassia Meador Wetsuits: Fresh Suits for Fancy Footwork Fanatics

Kassia Meador is one of the most recognizable longboarders in the world, known for her smooth styles both on and off the board. Kassi has developed a passion for surfing, shooting film, and tripping around the globe in search of perfect peelers and radically random weirdness. Meet Kass and check out her inspiration behind the wetsuits that have set the bar and led the way in new flair and wetsuit design and technology…

I’m Kassia Meador, and I’ve been surfing for Roxy for the last 13 years. Since I was young I was always interested in wetsuit design and fashion. I’ve always felt as surfers, what we wear in the water is really a reflection of our personal style. But with wetsuits being the way they were, black on black, there wasn’t really anything out there to let us show our personal style or stand out. About 5 years ago, I thought it was time to change the way the surf world thought about wetsuits, and I worked on my first collection with Roxy.

My inspirations for the first designs came out of my love for the history of surfing and surf costumes, especially bathing suits trends in Europe during the 40′s and 50′s. I wanted to make something that was flattering, comfortable, and would make us women feel like the best versions of ourselves in the water. That first collection sold out. Since then, I’ve developed 5 different colletions of wetsuits with Roxy. Growing and selling out every season helped to start a trend the rest of the surf industry would follow—but more importantly, it was a new way for women to look good and feel great in the water all the while having comfort, flexibility and warmth.

This newest collection is infused with the warmest and most comfortable materials, as well as the grooviest colors and lines to keep our female bodies looking strong and fit. I’m the most excited about this collection than any of the past to date, and I know you will be too. So get out there soak up some sunshine, be bold, live large, follow your bliss and glide the day away….

Welcome to Tahiti Summer 2013 #DAREYOURSELF

It’s Summer…time to heat things up in French Polynesian fashion! Tahiti called and your wave is waiting, so let’s ride (we did!).

The Roxy team including Sally Fitzgibbons, Kelia Moniz, LeeAnn Curren, Monyca Byrne Wickey, Justin Mauvin, and Bruna Schmitz boarded an easy 8 hour plane flight on Air Tahiti Nui from LAX and arrived to a warm flower-filled welcome at the Intercontinental Resort in French Polynesia (PS we can’t wait to show you our Polynesian Lei DIY vid).

What we woke up to was nothing short of a Roxy dream. We quickly boarded a boat and drifted off to the secluded island of Moorea, with bikinis in tow and sandals in hand, we got ourselves ready for a swim with some friends. After that, we dove right in with a lagoon full of stingrays (Kelia’s little buds), sharks and other sea friends that were welcoming and waiting.  Fast forward and we’re living on Tahiti Yacht catamarans a short ride away from one of the biggest and best offshore breaks in the world – Teahupoo. In true Polynesian fashion, we got the lay of the land with Raimana (aka the mayor of Tahiti) who showed us the best breaks, pineapple groves, sunset points, coral reefs, and most delicious Poisson Cru in town (yum!).

This is the Roxy way of life and we’re just starting to heat things up…Here’s some of our favorite pics from the beautiful Polynesian Island. #DAREYOURSELF to keep dreaming big…

Pink Paradise: One of our favorite hues in full bloom

One of our favorite hues is in full bloom this spring and we’re calling it Pink Paradise! From easy accessories like the Penny Board iPhone case to the Prism Watch (a bold statement piece to give your wrist some extra charm) Pink is all the rage.

We’re personally obsessing over the Look and See Tank with crochet detailing and cropped styling. It’s just begging you to go with the flow and pack it for your next road trip or music festival (Coachella anyone?). For more from the flirty hue, have a peek and get ready for a taste of paradise!
