Meet Becca K., Roxy’s in house Graphic Designer and Roxy’s ‘unofficial’ historian with a collection of vintage hangtags, magazine clippings and other Roxy memorabilia that had all of us Roxy girls taking a trip down memory lane.
Have you ever been curious about what a Graphic Designer’s workspace looks like? Have a look at Becca’s workspace and see what inspires her!
1. ROXY: Tell us about your job and how your work ends up on Roxy.com
Becca: I’m the Senior Graphic Designer for Roxy E-commerce, so it’s my job to take the marketing campaigns and bring them to life on Roxy.com! I work closely with marketing to become familiar with the story we want to tell, and then work with the web team to create wireframes for the site, the merchandisers to make sure we are showing the correct products, and the developers to make sure the designs are pixel perfect when they transition from being in my hands to being up on the site.
2. ROXY: What’s this?
Becca: When I was 14 I wrote a letter to Roxy telling them what a big fan I was and asked them to send me some stickers. They actually wrote back and sent me some stickers that came in this amazing envelope that I’ve saved for almost 14 years! When I’m having a bad day at work I look at this to keep myself inspired and remind myself about my passion for this brand.
3. ROXY: How long have you been collecting? What is your favorite?
Becca: I started saving anything with the Roxy logo on it since I was about 12, when I bought my first Roxy piece (I think it was a t-shirt) and I fell in love with the hang tag. I’ve saved every hang tag from every Roxy item I’ve ever bought, along with ads from magazines, posters, stickers, etc. I recently met a fellow designer and Roxy fan online – she followed my personal blog and learned about my love for vintage Roxy and sent me a bunch of amazing ads, books and posters for my collection, all the way from France! It was a great addition to my Roxy archives – thanks Julie!
4. ROXY: Any cool projects that you’re working on that you can share with us?
Becca: Even though I’m a web designer, one of my favorite parts of my job is when I get to work in the photo studio to create assets for a product trend story like the Mix & Make your own bikini tool!
5. Becca: I love to draw so I try to incorporate my illustrations whenever possible, like the Spring Break promo where I sketched activities to do at each destination, or the holiday and Valentine ’s Day card you might have seen here on the blog!
