I sat down with our Design-A-Roxy Bikini grand prize winner Christina and Roxy’s head swim designer Leslie Tobia (pictured left) to get some behind the scenes info about the winning design. For inspiration, Christina looked to tye-dye. She loves colorful things and bright neon colors. She dreams of being a fashion designer when she gets older.
Leslie Tobia , Roxy’s head swimwear designer, has been designing at Roxy for 15 plus years. She grew up on the beach and totally knows her stuff. Roxy bikinis are famous around the world today because of this amazing and very talented woman. If she says a design is a winner we believe her! She is legit. 
Q: Why did you choose Christina’s design?
LT: I really liked the whole “new age space vibe” of the print, the look combines technology and fantasy.
Q: What stood out to you about Christina’s design?
LT: Again, the print design is what stood out, it was different and fresh and represents a new trend. It didn’t look like anything that we are seeing in the stores right now.
Q: Why do you love designing swimwear?
LT: I am a native Californian and have lived on the beach my entire life. I love designing swimwear because it allows me to be creative as a designer through print, color, and detail. Also, I love being able to contribute to a lifestyle that I relate to.
Q: What do you think makes a perfect bikini?
LT: There are many aspects that make a perfect bikini. I think that what may be a perfect bikini for one person might not work for the next. The most important thing is that it is flattering, so the fit, style, and color are key.
