In my opinion, there is no better way to kick off summer than heading to beautiful Tofino, BC for a surf at anyone of their infamous surf spots.

Bruhwiler Surf School has been hosting Roxy Surf Camps for that last four summers. The all girls sessions are coached by Roxy surfer and Tofino local Catherine Bruhwiler. She grew up surfing the pacific coast of Vancouver Island and spends her winters surfing in Mexico.

At the camps, beginners can learn the basics of surfing; including surf etiquette and water safety, while intermediate surfers can improve their skills. Because the camps are all girls, it really makes the experience more intimate than a traditional co-ed camp. Joey Bruhwiler, Catherine’s sister in-law, makes the best chocolate chip cookies; if you are lucky – you might get some for a mid-surf snack. So good!

The camp includes wetsuit, bootie and surfboard rental. Every girl goes home with great goodie bag too, not to mention new friendships and new surfing skills.

Each time I have been to Tofino and spent time with Bruhwiler Surf School, it has been nothing but the best times! Be sure to check them out this summer!

Not too long ago I found myself in the beautiful cottage country of Ontario, Canada – The Muskokas. There, I met up with the crew from Basecamp Wakeboard Camp to overhaul one of their cabins into the Roxy Cabin.

The first day began with Scott Duke, Basecamp founder and owner, picking me up from the Toronto airport and heading to Ikea. We picked out a TON of bright accessories for the cabin. From Ikea we stopped by Scott’s neighborhood rec center for a serious game of dodge ball with his dodge ball team. Lets just say it was more than a fun "game" – there was some serious competition happening!

By the time we finished hashing
it out at dodge ball it was late and we had a two hour drive ahead of us to the camp and a Ford Ranger full of cabin decor. We
headed straight to Basecamp located in the small Muskoka town of Minett, Ontario. The next two days was going to full of work, so it was time to get home and get some sleep.

The following days saw us removing furniture, painting, cleaning and re-decorating the cabin. You can check out our before and after photos as well as the video on the entire renovation. The cabin hosts girls all summer that attend Basecamp. It also is the home of 10 girls during the Roxy All Girls Wakeboard Camp happening this week from July 13th to 18th.
