Irvine Spectrum 3 contestants

Just a short jot about our first event back. Today was our first event after having over twenty days off! It was a little odd getting back into the swing of things, especially driving Big Bessy. Carissa had made the comment that I was driving extra ordinarily aggressive. I guess that’s what happens when you go from driving a small car to a giant R.V. it’s freedom, apparently I own the road. Oh, and I must give some major kudos to Carissa who parallel parked Big Bessy this evening in ONE try!!!! What, what! Watch out for me if you’re in the Irvine area and I happen to be behind the wheel.

Today went great. It was our first day back as well as our first model search event. Joining us in our model search events are still our good friends at Schick Quattro for Women in addition to Teen Vogue and Ford Models. How sweet is that?

We had a spectacular turn out of young ladies. We choose three finalists who will be featured in our fashion show tomorrow at the Irvine Spectrum mall where we will be narrowing it down to one contestant who will be placed with the other finalists of our tour.

All the girls who came out today did a remarkable job on the cat walk and had so many original answers to our judges questions. Remember ladies, this contests is just as much about what’s on the inside as the out, it is called the Follow Your Heart tour. So don’t be shy, we love originality and natural beauty!!

The final winner will be selected August 1st and will be featured as the first ever Roxy.com spokes model and will be featured in Teen Vogue. We also have plenty of other prizes to be won such as, an authentic Roxy, Follow Your Heart tour locket, luggage and various amounts on gift cards starting at one hundred dollars. If your in the Irvine area I highly suggest you check out our tour. It’s a day full of excitement and fun with different events happening all day and yes our infamous flip flops!! It’s been a grueling day and Carissa and I are very tired and need our beauty sleep for tomorrow. This is a model search right? Stay posted for more details about our Irvine escapade tomorrow. Glad to be back on the road and very excited for our new quests to come.

Fresno, CA our last college tour stop!

Finals week. Our last college stop was in Fresno, California at CSU Fresno. It was a perfect end to our college tour stops. The students seemed eager to take their minds off studying for a while and check out the Follow Your Heart tour exhibit. Students seemed quiet, I am sure their mentality wasn’t exactly it’s usual due to finals.

We had a lot of awesome help all day from so many wonderful people. Shawna, who was our Fresno contact, helped us all day. She gave us plenty of volunteers, helped us out with an awesome location on campus that even had a water hook-up. This may not seem like a commodity to you but for us it’s a dream come true. We use the water to wash off the screen for screen-printing our tee shirts and without water it limits the amount of different screens and colors that we use. Carissa and I were exceptionally creative with the different designs we could use today. The girls in Fresno got hooked up on their tees! We made some really good-looking ones.

Around lunch we had another pleasant surprise, four more volunteers showed up to help from the local  Quiksilver store. They were so amped to help out, it made for such a good time. We also found out there is a high school located on campus that helped create a great demographic for us. They added a little spontaneity to the whole day. Like I said, it was a great last tour stop, we couldn’t have asked for more.

We’re on our way to Huntington now to drop off the R.V. for maintenance. Carissa and I head to Colorado for a few weeks until we continue on with the second half of our tour. We can’t wait for the model search to start. We look forward to seeing all of your gorgeous faces. Check out the schedule for the second half of our tour and don’t forget to keep following your HEART!!!

Follow Your Heart tour AZ

Pool PARTY! That’s the vibe we picked up on as we approached the University of Arizona. I can safely say we officially have tans! We arrived to Tucson on Saturday morning giving us a few extra days to educate ourselves about the University of Arizona. We walked around campus on Saturday afternoon and realized we needed to put on our bikinis to even halfway fit in with the local crowd. There were girls and guys prancing the streets in their swimsuits. The sounds of reggae could be heard for blocks.

As we approached Greek row we noticed the streets becoming more and more full. We couldn’t believe it? Was it always like this? Where was the party? We meet a group of alumni who informed us it was pool party weekend. Apparently all of the fraternities on campus build, yes build, pools in their back yards using hay, giant tarps and lots of sand bags? Genius.

“Oh my gosh! No, way ROXY!!” The girls on campus were so stoked to have us. We couldn’t get our exhibit set up fast enough. They were swarming the R.V. as soon as we pulled up to our location. We were on the most populated side of campus. Huge sprawling palm trees lined the sides of the street where our exhibit was centrally located. The buildings were very large and consumed with old stone and red brick. A giant clock tower overlooked our whole location, a perfect spot for our set up. Things went very smooth and no surprise here, the girls and some guys loved our tee shirts and the rad tote bags from Schick Quattro for Women.

The vibe on campus was a little different than the others. Much more chill and relaxed, unlike the ninety-degree temperature. Maybe it was all the pool parties the day before that took too much out of them.

Our day ended with a delicious treat for ourselves an Eegee, a Tucson original locals favorite. It’s a slushy but one thousand times better. It has real fruit mixed in and tastes like a dream after a hard days work in the sun.

We’re on the road again, and headed toward San Diego.  We still are keeping our eyes out for the best video submission so please keep them coming!! We love to watch them! Keep it real.

Much Love,
Samantha and Carissa

Hays, Kansas

On our way back to Colorado I couldn’t resist to stop at a good friends house in Hays, KS. This town is so much fun! The people who live their may not agree but the many visits I have had to this town in my lifetime have always been full of good memories, so I had to show a little Roxy love. I guarantee it was a big deal to have the Follow Your Heart tour bus in town. We were greeted by the VonLintel family with sooooooo much enthusiasm, we know how bummed they were that we weren’t staying for the night. We took them out to the buffalo, and had some local flavor pose in some pics for us. Ft. Hays state university is in town so we are sure we generated quite a buzz. Thanks for the hospitality as we passed through Hays, even though it wasn’t for the night!! Soon we will be home sweet home.

Much LOVE,

University of Miami, Ohio Ladies Show their Schick Quattro For Women Totes

We made it to our third destination! The University of Miami at Ohio.

It was a great campus full of friendly students who waved and greeted us with smiles. Students could be seen sitting outside sipping on refreshing beverages and cheering, “the Roxy girls” as we drove by.

There was a lot of energy on campus because it was senior week and the students only had one more week of classes left. It seemed that school was the furthest from their minds. We heard them all night as we tried to get our beauty sleep. Being a former college student myself I can relate to their enthusiasm. We found a convenient location to park Bessy and set up camp for the evening.

The next morning we set up the event with help from our Schick Quattro for Women representatives (THANK YOU) and before we knew it, it was show time…

The spot where we chose to set up was so beautiful. The Crab trees were in full bloom and we were placed right next to a beautiful water feature that would permeate mist our way every so often. The weather was a nice seventy five degrees and the sun was shinning. We were all smiles because as you know we love the sun but the weather called for windy and rainy all day.

The girls at the University of Miami of Ohio were so adorable. I think I heard someone say they have a nickname of J. Crew U. It seemed very fitting, the campus looked like it was made for a photo-shoot straight from the catalog.

Carissa and I are so eager to see all your video submissions, get them goin! Aside from a few hiccups in the morning it was a great day, that went quickly. Were back in the RV now on our way to AZ. But not without stopping in COLORADO for a little TLC from our friends and family. We can’t wait to see you!!!

Much Love,
Samantha and Carissa

Roxy, Follow Your Heart, Samantha and Carissa, Pedro at South of the Border

Hola! Not too much to report from the tour today. It’s Sunday afternoon and the “sun goddesses” are bummed because we finally have time to ourselves and are close to a beach. The problem, the weather is sixty-five degrees and rainy! Yuck!!! We hope the weather will cooperate with us by Tuesday for our second tour stop at Old Dominion University.

On our drive out yesterday we ventured upon a place called, South of the Border. It’s a huge tourist attraction right on the boarder of South and North Carolina. South of the Boarder looks like it belongs in the middle of Mexico somewhere, hence the name. It had anything and everything you could imagine, ice cream, roller coasters, antiques, Mexican food, an Africa shop, flamingos, a great white shark, tee shirts, souvenirs, RV parks and a giant sombrero. The reason for our interest for such a strange place such as this was because of the 120 billboards for nearly 200 miles along the highway. We were so intrigued by all the signs we had to stop. And when we saw the 200ft. high sombrero from the highway we couldn’t resist. When we pulled in we noticed the reality of Pedro’s South of the Boarder right away, we fell for the biggest tourist trap on I-95, by far the strangest place we have seen yet. After finding a place to park our home, which is always a tedious task, we got out and walked around for a bit. We decided the only reason for stopping was for the photo ops that were all around us. We captured some precious moments and then quickly realized we were in a neon Tijuana and we were ready to get on the road again. We arrived to Old Dominion University in the early evening and decided to call it a night. (Gracias to Pedro and the South of the Boarder creators for making our day a little more interesting) Keep your fingers crossed for good weather.

University of South Carolina, Follow Your Heart Tour

Hi Ya’ll! Today we had our first stop on our tour at the University of South Carolina. We had a wonderful location on campus directly in front of the university bookstore. We made our presence known by parking the bus in front of the store. Next to the bus we placed both the Roxy and Schick Quattro for Women tents. Under the tents we had giveaways such as Schick Quattro for Women totes filled with razors, Roxy music CD’s, Shimmer (a surf video) and the infamous, tee shirt press. Our custom tee shirt press caused a lot of excitement on campus. The line quickly became fifty deep and had students buzzing all over. By the end of the day we even spotted a few girls who were sporting their new digs! We quickly learned that the tee shirt press is going to be very successful!  We can’t wait till we get our flip flop machine……

The weather was very cooperative as well. It was a beautiful sunny day! A temperature of about eighty degrees and a light constant breeze that kept everyone from getting too hot.  Carissa and I turned into sun goddesses as we took on every task we could in the sun. You see, we both were very excited to spend the day in the sun because aside from the bus, Breckenridge, Colorado is where we call home (shout out to the Team Royal Tigers) where we still have four feet of snow in our back yard. Might be why students here were staring at my snow-white legs, which reminds me I could us some aloe. We couldn’t have asked for a better first tour stop experience. The students on campus were all very friendly and radiated a great, positive vibe. Not only was the campus beautiful, so were the people. Carissa and I are off to bed now. Were taking off early in the morning to Old Dominion University. Stop number two on our tour. But before we arrive we are going to take advantage of Virgina Beach!!! More time to soak up the sun, we just need to remember the sun block this time. Keep your eyes open on the road for us, well, actually you can’t miss us. Cheers to a successful first tour stop!!!

Somewhere in New Mexico

Totally random stop. This may have been the most interesting place we saw as we ventured through New Mexico, not sure what it was? Thought it was rather interesting though……..
