Having a Maxi Moment

Though they have been around for a while now, long dresses have never felt so right or on point…and I’m having a serious maxi moment. I love how simple and sexy they are without showing much skin and most of all, how they can switch from season to season effortlessly. I’m currently wearing mine with a cropped jacket when it is cold out- much like model Miranda Kerr (and Andy T. from lookbook.nu for a little more inspiration) and with sandals and a statement necklace when the sun is shining. I love the Roxy options, Endless Summer, a dress in show-stopping colors with fun fringe, and the Pop Up dress, a great basic with cute buttons and a flirty knot at the bottom. So don’t wait! Grab one and have a moment with a maxi dress that is all your own…

Daydreaming of Spring

Transitional dressing between the winter and spring seasons is one of the hardest acts to pull off. My mind is blatantly on bright colors and flirty prints that show tan skin and involve a bikini- neither of which are factoring into the weather right now. But I’ve decided that I’m not going to let that stop me!

Currently inspiring me to live in a beachy state of mind is the super fun print of the Tropics 2 dress that will look so cute in winter-esque weather paired with tights, boots and a sweater…and equally lovely on the sand in a month. Double duty at its finest!

Closet Staple: Worldwide Fame Vest

As I was getting dressed this morning I came to the realization that I am totally obsessed with the Worldwide Fame Vest. All the girls in the marketing department can attest- I happen to inadvertently wear one (I have both colors!) at least once a week.

It is so easy to throw on the black version over a striped long-sleeved tee, paired with some skinny jeans when the weather is a bit chilly. And the white style looks equally cute over a floral dress and tights. Something tells me that even when the seasons change and we can finally bask in the sun, this will still be a closet staple for me!

Truckee Love

Over here in the Roxy Marketing Department, we are simply put-  OBSESSED- with the Truckee Boot. Paired with some tights or cute socks, these boots work with every outfit imaginable, providing that perfect edginess to spice up your style. It seems we aren’t the only ones in love either! Taylor over at “Shut up I Love That Shirt On You” is a fan too! Get yours here.

Get Your Tips on Trend

One of the easiest (and cheapest) ways to change up your look and stay on trend is by letting your tips do the talking…fingertips that is! And according to Refinery 29- my reference for all things hip and cool- 2011 will be a year of nudes, blues, pinks, lavenders, grays and topcots with a little extra punch. I have to admit, after I read this, I got a bit inspired and went home to paint my nails a super sheer glossy nude and I am quite obsessed. It’s refreshing to see some paler, softer hues after seasons of bold darks and eye-blinding brights. So go ahead and spread the love for the spring season…right on down to your fingertips!

Your #1 Color for 2011

Pantone, the color institute, has announced the #1 color for 2011. And the winner is…Honeysuckle! Described as a “brave, confident and courageous” color, honeysuckle will add a nice punch of pretty pink to any ensemble. Whether you wear the color on your lips a la Cameron Diaz, in a dress like Kristen Stewart or in your accessories as BellaSugar suggests, honeysuckle is sure to make your outfit a little more fun! You can find Roxy’s take on Honeysuckle here.

Color Me Bright

Something about the dreary weather today makes me crave the upbeat, happy-go-lucky feeling wearing bright, bold colors brings. It seems everywhere I look, gorgeous spring clothes (and most importantly- colors) are beginning to crop up, making me long for the days of summer. However, until the tides change and the sun really is here to stay, I’m going to play make-believe in my beautifully bold Riding High sweater- which I can wear now paired with some jeans and will still look just as perfect at the beach in the summer over a bikini when the sun drops. Bring on the color!

Fashion Friday: Summer’s Holiday Pick

Our Holiday 2010 line has everything you need for the winter- whether you are spending it on the sunny beaches of Hawaii or in the crisp mountains of Bariloche, Argentina (where all of our Holiday pictures were taken). Our Head of Design, Summer Rapp, gave me some insight into her favorites for the season.

What is your must have item for Holiday? I love the laced jeggings in black! The cute lace-up detail in the back adds a unique twist to this traditional style.

Do you have any exciting plans for the holidays this year? I’m planning to stay in town and really get into the holiday spirit with my kids! Looking forward to relaxing, but planning some fun day adventures too!

Slope Style

I spent a few minutes this week catching up with Brooke, our resident guru in all things Wintersports, and she brought me up to speed on the top styles for this snow season.

What are the main trends for slope style this season? Richer colors, such as sangria, mixed with subtle metallics and luxurious fabrics, are trending for jackets. Slim fit, stretch outwear pants are a must- have too.

What is your must-have item for the holiday season? Roxy’s Navy Academy Deluxe snow jacket- a beautiful lurex yarn dyed plaid paired with the Energy slim fit pant. Both of these are my go-to’s this season for making me feel comfortable in regards to fashion and function on the slope.

Do you have any exciting plans for the holidays this year? This is the first year I am not traveling to my home state of Michigan for the holidays so I am going to enjoy the benefits of living in California… I will be hitting the mountains and the beach!
