I’m Loving…Ruffles!

By Jennifer Andrews | Published March 4th, 2010

There is something so sweet and feminine about ruffles that I just adore! They are especially perfect as an added touch on an outfit or accessory as we head into Spring. Celebs like Lauren Conrad, Rihanna and Leighton Meester (channeling Blair Waldorf) are on board too.

And here at Roxy, we have you covered! The “Surf Essentials”  and “Be Hippie Ruffle” bikinis are so fresh and fun and the “Petticoat” bag has long been a favorite of mine. So, don’t let this trend pass you by! Snap up some ruffle-y goodness right away!

A Day in the Life of… The One and Only Cindy B:
ROXY’S RAD CAMPAIGN MANAGER

Job Title/Description of what you do:
I am Roxy’s Campaign Manager. I work in the marketing department and help manage all of our brand messaging to make sure it is consistently carried throughout all channels (print advertising, in-store creative, online advertising, roxy.com, etc.). ‘Hello Summer’ is our next campaign coming soon! I also manage our large scale partnerships such as the one we have with JBL headphones, and our Design a Roxy Bikini promotion with Schick Quattro for Women (coming May 3rd!)

Time worked at ROXY:
6 years! Crazy to think I started out as an intern over 6 years ago.

Fav part of working for ROXY:
All of the friends I have made along the way!  This company is full of intelligent, creative, inspiring individuals who make coming to work not such a bad thing.  I grew up wearing Roxy every single day in high school and to now be working for a brand whose lifestyle I truly appreciate is amazing.

Style Icon/Style Inspiration:
There are too many to name!  Love, love, love Rachel Bilson, MK&A Olson, Sienna Miller.  And I’m inspired by anything Chanel, fashion mags, vintage stores, trips to New York….

Go-To Fashion Item or Outfit right now:
‘Twiggy’ legging jeans by James Jeans!  I have them in dark denim and black.  They are so so comfy and cute.  Obsessed.

Advice to Readers:
In life:  Take chances, try new things, challenge others, get to know people and most of all, enjoy life!
Career:  Do well in school, think outside the box, get an internship (or 2 or 3) in a field not just for experience but to make sure it’s something you can/want to do for the rest of your life. I thought I wanted to be a broadcast journalist for the longest time until I got an internship at Fox News. I loved it but quickly realized that career path wasn’t for me.
Fashion: Wear whatever makes you feel happy!  Who cares what others think?

Exciting Upcoming Projects:
Fall and Holiday 2010 campaigns!  Seems so far away but it will be here before we know it.

Thanks Cindy! Check back next month for another Roxy superstar!

Caught in the Act of Wearing Roxy…Jenny!

By Jennifer Andrews | Published February 23rd, 2010

I stealthily snapped a picture of Jenny stylin’ in new arrival, Jump Higher. I particularly like the way she layered it with a tank for times when it’s a little too early to be rocking a more crop- style top (like now…in freezing February…). So cute!

Spice Your Lunch Bag Up with a Fun Tote

By Jennifer Andrews | Published February 4th, 2010

My good friend, Ashley, and I have more than in common than we ever knew!  Both of our moms have the same inherent ability to pick up something insanely useful and yet totally chic for their daughters (us!). Case in point: our awesome Blue Q lunch bags that we are both slightly obsessed with. The bags are cool because they are reusable (also made from recycled materials!) and allow us add a little bit of style to an otherwise boring lunch tote. I swear I get more compliments on my “Owl” tote than I could ever imagine…and I love it. Thanks Mom! Blue Q has a great selection of lunch bags you can find here.

Put a Little Spring in Your Step with Essie!

By Jennifer Andrews | Published February 3rd, 2010

Every year right around this time I get super over the cold winter weather and long for sunny spring days when wearing bright colors is almost mandatory and a tan is commonplace. While it’s not time for that just yet, Essie’s new Spring 2010 line of gorgeously fresh and eye-catching colors makes me think that with any of these shades on my nails, I am only moments away from stepping onto the beach (even if the reality is a bit further than I would like to believe…). Ahhhhh lovely. Take me away now, Essie! Buy here.

A Day in the Life of Cedar!

A Day in the Life of…CREATIVE, COOL CEDAR:

ROXY’S AMAZING EVENT MANAGER

Cedar_Wakiki(Cedar on the North Shore of Oahu)

Job Title/Description of what you do: I am the Events Manager. I work in the Marketing department and manage all the events for the women’s brands at Quiksilver which include Roxy, Quiksilver Womens, Raisins, Radio Fiji, and Leilani.  Events give me the opportunity to work on many different types of projects.  I produce and manage all of our sporting events, such as surf contests and snowboarding contests (join us at Roxy Chicken Jam!), as well as any sort of product launch event, tour or movie premiere.  In addition to this I also manage and produce all our photoshoots.  This means finding and choosing models that represent the brands the best, and booking hair stylists, make-up artists, photographers, and cool locations.

Time worked at ROXY:
5 years…whoa, time flies!

Defining moment at Roxy:
In my five years here I’ve had many defining moments at Roxy, but the most memorable was during my first big event, the Roxy Pro Hawaii.  I stood back and took everything in – the huge event set-up, all the people making it happen on site, all the best surfers in the world, and the perfect waves of the North Shore of Oahu.  I thought to myself, “Wow, I made this happen.”  To realize this was an amazing feeling which let me know I made the right choice in my career and made all the hard work worth it.

(Cedar with the crowd of Roxy Pro Hawaii behind)

Fav part of working for ROXY:
The people!  I’ve made some of my best friends here.  There are so many people here at Roxy who share my two main interests, fashion and surfing!  Where else can you talk about the hottest new trends then catch a quick surf on your lunch break?

Style Icon/Style Inspiration:
Wow, where to start?!  Kate Moss and Sienna Miller are both amazing with their unique, sexy and effortless style.  They definitely continue to inspire me year after year.  Rachel Bilson seems to always be very well put together.  Sarah Jessica Parker makes me want to wear even the craziest stuff because it looks so great on her!

Go-To Fashion Item or Outfit right now:
Tights!  I just got the most amazing BCBG Max Azria tights with huge cut-outs in them.  I wear them with some sort of tunic and flat boots.  I’m also loving all the fun tights Roxy makes, styled under my boyfriend shorts with motorcycle boots.

Advice to Readers:
Style advice – Wear what you want and rock it with confidence!  If you feel great and confident in what you are wearing chances are you look great too.  Have fun with it!
Career Advice – Pick a career you have an interest in, not just something that you think is practical or will make you lots of money.  If you are passionate about what you do the money will come.  You spend most of your adult life at work so you want to enjoy it!

Exciting Upcoming Projects:
There are a lot of exciting things coming up for me.  I’m currently working on the Roxy Chicken Jam, which is a snowboarding event and concert in Mammoth, CA.  Everyone should check it out and come snowboarding with me! (Visit: www.roxy.com/chickenjam-usa to check all the event details out) I’m also working on our global swimwear photoshoot and our Fall/Holiday photoshoots.  Never a dull moment!

Recessionista 101:Clothes Swapping Party

By Jennifer Andrews | Published January 27th, 2010

I have the same dilemma as (I would venture to guess) millions of other girls around the world…a closet full of clothes, but nothing to wear. As purchasing a whole new wardrobe isn’t really an option for those (like me also) on a budget, the idea of throwing  a clothes-swapping party has always intrigued me and now seems like the right time to make it happen. It’s as simple as gathering up your most stylish girlfriends, cranking up the music, trying on some clothes and leaving with some totally new gear. For more ideas on how to do it right, click here, here and here.
