Sally Update

This past quarter saw Sally spend a considerable period in Hawaii where she surfed Haleiwa, Sunset and Maui. Sally prepared well for the WQS at Haleiwa and was disappointed with a 9th place finish. Moving on to the Roxy Pro at Sunset Sally met some solid conditions during preparation and during the Trials event. Sally won the Trials convincingly and was unlucky not to progress further into the main draw. To finish the Hawaii season Sally went to Maui to practice but there was little swell and she returned home for Christmas and her 18th birthday. Reflecting on a big year Sally feels all her goals were achieved.

Sally Fitzgibbons

In January Sally went to Morocco for a Roxy road trip. To say the least it was an interesting trip with the usual lost boards, colder than expected weather and surf that was big and confused by a large storm off the coast of France. Sal managed to surf every day except one and returned with plenty of interesting stories about a culture and place she had not been to before.

Morocco Road Trip Day 1/ SALLY

I left Sydney on my quest for Morocco. It was to be the first of four planes, apparently Morocco is not the closest country to Australia.

I met up with Kassia and Jen in L.A; and we continued on our journey. As we skated through Parisairport to change terminals we were all smiles, until security told Jen she had to check the skate board in before boarding our next plane. We finally arrived in Marrakech, our final destination and all our bags were missing, except Jens mini skateboard, which was now broken. We took a visit to the lost baggage room and then Candice flew in from London and everyone was excited to see her and have their feet on the ground. We settled at a hotel for the night and feasted on some traditional Moroccan food.

AUSTRALIA DAY 5 WITH ROXY GIRLS

Hi Friends!  Here is the last episode from the Roxy Road Trip Australia, turn up the sounds and ENJOY!

"So the last day of the trip the waves weren’t the best so we decided to go to this waterfall in the mountains.  Its was raining pretty hard, so when we rocked up the fall was flowing full force.  The air was really cold because we were really high up in the Australian mountains.  We threw on our amazing wetsuits and had to get down in the water and check it out, being the adventurous crew we are..Water is the strongest element in nature and being there feeling all the energy around us, we couldn’t help but feel ALIVE. This was a perfect ending to a very unique trip.  Thanks for joining us on this incredible adventure. Hope this inspired you to get a few friends together pack up the car and head out on your own road trip. Who knows what you will find" –Candice O’Donnell

Australia day 4 thru Leeanne Curren’s eyes

Hi friends~  Wanted to share with you the Roxy girls road trip day number 4 through Leeanne Curren’s eyes. enjoy!

"After we painted our masterpiece tent, we really needed to have a good surfing day. We woke up the next day early and checked the waves in front of the camp as the sun was coming up. The conditions were really clean and there were no clouds in the sky, which was a pretty big surprise because its been raining so much lately. It was so amazing what this trip has brought us.  The whole beach was empty and we went out and surfed all day by ourselves, and when we were finally surfed out we cane in and had the idea of making a campfire. The boys went to pick up some wood in the forest while we cooked dinner.  We grabbed the guitars, Jen’s "hard-core"-Dion, and made a nice big fire to keep ourselves warm on the beach.  We hammed for a little while and then Millertime told us the craziest surfing stories that he knew, it was interesting…He is a good story teller.  That was really a nice evening, and we decided to sleep on the beach under the moonlight….Which sounded good, but the sand wasn’t that comfortable and we were all paranoid by all of the bugs and the spiders just waiting for us to fall asleep to start eating us.  The fire didn’t make it through the night either and we were pretty much frozen on the beach when we woke up. But that was a good experience not to go though again, except falling asleep while watching the stars.. –Leeanne Curren
