Sally Fitzgibbons Fiji Pro

She’s done it again! Sally Fitzgibbons gets her second consecutive tour victory in winning the Fiji Pro!

The waves at Cloudbreak might have been the best surfing conditions the women have ever seen during competition, where 8-10-foot waves set the stage for some incredible surfing.

It was a tight final against Stephanie, surfing in challenging conditions at Cloudbreak. Ultimately, Sally’s 9.0 score in the finals beat Stephanie’s score of 8.73.

“Winning at Cloudbreak is such an awesome feeling”, she said. “You get smashed across the reef but you have to pick yourself up and get going again.”

Golden hour. Last light. Sunset…whatever you want to call it, last night’s surf was picturesque with golden skies & sparkly seas.

ROXY Santa Barbara Road Trip

Kelia, Bruna, Rosy & Justine paddled out to catch a few sets before it was the moon’s turn. With some fun little sets and plenty of great surf shots to add to their albums, the girls couldn’t have asked for a better way to end their weekend in Santa Barbara!

Loving Lost in Santa Barbra: Brunching & Thrifting

The surf was flat so we decided to partake in a serious brunch session at Joe’s Café, a local favorite. The Huevos Cubano and pancakes were a-m-a-z-i-n-g!

Justine was experiencing some SERIOUS guitar envy in one of the shops we stopped in.  We literally had to tear her away from buying another guitar to add to her collection.

1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

1 mashed banana

Handful of macadamia nuts

2 tbsp melted butter

Instructions:

1. Add all the dry ingredients together in a large mixing bowl, and mix very well with a spoon.

2. Add the wet ingredients together in a separate smaller mixing bowl minus the melted butter.

3. Peal and mash banana well with a fork. Then add to the wet ingredients.

4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and lightly mix with a spoon.

5. Pour in the melted butter and macadamia nuts

6. Mix again until combined and slightly lumpy, do not over mix.

7. Lightly grease a griddle or large pan with cooking oil

8. Pour 1/4 cup of the batter onto the hot griddle.

9. Fry for about 2-3 minutes, the tops should get bubbly, then flip over with a spatula and cook for 2-3 more minutes.

10. Enjoy & share with friends!

From the Cubicle to the Cove: #ROXYOutdoorFitness SUP Session with the ROXY Marketing Team

SUP with the ROXY Marketing Team

The ladies of the ROXY & Quiksilver Marketing teams got together to celebrate the summer-like weather here at our Huntington Beach headquarters.

Paddling around Huntington Harbor in their #ROXYOutdoorFitness gear, they were lucky enough to have 2x World Champion and respected waterman Tom Carroll as their SUP guide.

After a few dips in the cool harbor (it was over 90 degrees) the Marketing team enjoyed a seaside lunch & had a good laugh over the various wipeouts in the harbor. This is our version of water cooler talk!

Thanks for coming out to give us a lesson in SUP Tom!

Meet Bianca Buitendag: ROXY Team Rider, Rookie of the Year & ASP World Tour Surfer

Meet Bianca Buitendag. ROXY Team Rider, Rookie of the Year & ASP World Tour Surfer. The 20 year old South African native is one of the newest faces on the ASP Women’s World Tour—and aside from being a fierce world tour competitor in the water, she’s a total sweetheart! We caught up with Bianca before her next stop in Rio to talk surf snacks, wetsuit tricks & pre-surf playlists!

ROXY: What is your favorite breakfast to eat before a surf?

BIANCA: A local South African porridge. I just can’t get enough of it!

Bianca Buitendag

ROXY: How do you keep your skin/hair healthy with so much exposure to sun and salt?

BIANCA: I overload on sunblock, mostly cream with a zinc base. I have a fair skin with a lot of freckles so protection is important. For my hair I use  high quality hair products and rinse and wash after every long day in the salt and sun.

Bianca Buitendag

Bianca Buitendag

ROXY: Any tricks for easily getting in/out of a wetsuit?

BIANCA: It gets better with repetition! The quality and stretch of the wetsuit material helps the most.

ROXY: If we were to take a peek at your iPhone/iPod, what songs would be on your playlist?

BIANCA: Artists like Ben Howard, Tom Odell, Beirut, Bon Iver and some golden oldies.

ROXY: What’s it like being on the ASP Women’s World Tour?

BIANCA: It is surreal in many ways. You travel all over the face of the planet, changing time zones every 10 days. You compete against the worlds best all in the pursuit of becoming World Champion. You have the opportunities to do what you love every single day of your life. You have the platform to inspire. No wonder it is one of the most coveted positions to be in!

Bianca Buitendag

ROXY: What is your ‘typical’ pre-competition rituals?

BIANCA: I have recently started listening to music to block out the distraction of my surroundings before heats. I make sure my equipment is prepared and that I have clarity about my strategy.
