The Roxy girls are gearing up for a fun-filled Sunday, September 2^nd on Labor Day Weekend, at the Pacific Festival: The Dunes where they will play host to the popular DIY beading and leather lounge area from 1-5pm!

Anyone who buys a ticket to the festival can participate in the Roxy DIY activity and have their fortune told!

The 2012 Pacific Festival: The Dunes benefitting the Surfrider Foundation will showcase live music, local food art and entertainment. Musical headliners include Mayer Hawthorne, Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr, Poolside (recently featured on the Roxy blog), Fools Gold, Capital Cities, Mr. Little Jeans and there will also be DJ sets by Bag Raiders, Miami Horrow and Yacht.

The festival is located at Newport Dunes Waterfront Resort & Marina, 1311 Back Bay Drive, Newport Beach, CA, 92660, just steps away from the water.

There’s really no need to drag your feet as you head back to school…in fact we see this as an opportunity to reinvigorate our wardrobe and play with some new looks, shapes and colors.

Recently we snuck behind the scenes at our Fall Lookbook shoot and found ourselves sifting through racks of clothes, admiring long rows of boots and being of little assistance to the working girl and team rider Kelia Moniz who playfully posed in some of the best looks for Fall.

There’s a certain amount of mysteriousness surrounding Los Angeles chill-out duo Poolside (consisting of Filip Nikolic and Jeffrey Paradise), but there’s no doubt they’ve chosen apt names for both their band and new single. The track, “Slow Down,” is a languid piece of what Nikolic and Paradise call “daytime disco,” and listening to it, you can’t help but feel lilted away…whether you’re reclined on a Chaise lounge next to a turquoise-colored swimming pool or not. Poolside’s full-length release, Pacific Standard Time, is out this month, so look for it!

Last week a group of Roxy athletes set off in their silver–clad aluminum Airstream to Seaside Reef in Cardiff for a day of surfing.

This training camp kicked off the first of many upcoming Lisa Andersen Champ Camps that offers a one of a kind experience with surfing legend Lisa Andersen as their mentor and seeks to progress the sport of surfing through training and analysis. Team riders including Nikki Viesins, Tatiana Weston-Webb, Kylie Loveland, Meah Collins, Meg Roh, and Kehanu Delovio all joined in for this signature experience.

Lisa wasted no time and ‘broke the ice’ for all the girls when they arrived, giving them a brief rundown of the camp, key fundamentals, and heat strategy. The girls suited up in their Roxy wetsuits and headed out for a heat, giving Lisa and 2x world longboard champion and team rider Jen Smith a chance to closely watch and critique the girls’ surfing.

After the heat, the girls headed back to the Airstream for a brief review by Lisa and Jen, and back out to apply the tips and advice from surfing’s elite. This time around, Lisa and Jen suited up for a fun expression session with all the girls.

The team certainly worked up an appetite and munched on Daphne’s lunch., followed by some smoothie-making, so the girls gathered around the Airstream kitchen to whip up some fresh berry smoothies with Lisa…a great way to end the day followed by a brief pep talk from Surfing pros Lisa and Jen!

We’ve been waiting (im)patiently for Charli XCX to drop some new music…and she finally did so last month with the release of this awesome single, “You’re The One.” Brashly challenging herself to send contemporary pop music back to its original edge, the 19-year-old Brit (whose real name is Charlotte Aitchison) has been collaborating lately with Los Angeles indie-weirdo Ariel Pink, as well as with Patrik Berger, who produced and wrote Robyn’s insanely great “Dancing On My Own” a couple years back. This first taste of Charli XCX’s upcoming album certainly doesn’t disappoint — let us know what you think!

We had an amazing night at the Roxy Red Bull party celebrating at the US Open of Surfing with Sally Fitzgibbons and all the Roxy athletes!

By now, Chan Marshall — best known to anyone who’s followed music for the last decade-plus as Cat Power — doesn’t really need an introduction. The once-erratic singer-songwriter managed to conquer her formidable demons and fears in the ’00s, and after a pair of covers albums and a stint in Memphis working with seasoned gospel and R&B musicians, she’s once again doing her own thing. Cat Power’s new album, Sun, will be released in September, and we’re offering a taste of it here with its chiming lead single, “Ruin.” Lighter, airier, and possessing a relaxed swagger, we’re betting that Sun will end up as one of our favorites of 2012 by year’s end!

As Summer comes to a close and Fall rolls in so does an exciting blend of new colors. More simply, we’re tripping out on color and obsessing over our colored denim.

With colors reminiscent of the coast of Northern California: Big Sur (the location of this year’s Fall photo shoot), a mix of warm sunset hues, golden glows, moss covered coastlines,  turquoise sea-lines, and a mix of our favorite deep indigos infuse our denim to make an unmatched mix up of fun colors for Fall.

Since denim undoubtedly reigns supreme in our closets this time of year we’re delighted to have plenty to pick from…And we love that the ankle length gives that extra needed versatility to pair with ankle booties like the Westbourne boots and looks rocker chic with a pair of rolled up Skinny Floods in Moss Cove (a personal fav of Kelia Moniz).

For a softer approach, the boldly beautiful Gold denim is nothing short of sweet alongside the cropped vanilla Moon Fall top, and for the feet, some lacey Sloane Boots, in tan of course!  To us, this is the perfect golden girl ensemble for the season.

Continuing with the denim trend, warm it up with vivid scarlets in the Coastal Cove denim. This rich color is easily mixed with some easy Azul sandals or some strappy two-tone Biscayne Boots, and don’t forget a sweater!
