Maximized: The Dress Edition

Here’s the thing about maxi dresses: They are throw-on casual, but can also be elegantly romantic. They are accessory ready, or not. Depending on your desired look, you can pile on the funky jewels and fedora or keep it minimal and wear one with your finest jewelry.

And all you petites out there, don’t believe the rumors—you too can wear a maxi dress. Because they trim your ankles they actually elongate your silhouette. You can wear one with a pair of Salerno Sandal wedges for an elevated outfit. Or embrace your small frame and pair your maxi with the flat, laidback Pisco Leather Sandal.

Take a break and watch our inspired spring video where our new style maxis are seen ceasing the moment. The vibrant printed World Festival Dress doesn’t mind getting wet and the For Shore Dress shops the world market. For something solid, and slightly ’70s, the Moondance Maxi Dress has a ruffled neck and seductive criss-cross back; a lightweight lingerie vibe with just the right amount of reveal. Switch up your maxi with a vest, jean jacket or knit sweater layered over.

Whatever way you choose to maximize, you’ll feel the inherent freedom, from your head down to your toes.

ROXY Beauty: How To Minx Up Your Nails

For as much time that Kelia & Monyca spend in the water, sometimes it’s hard to justify a mani-pedi. Unless of course that mani is a Minx mani. Using flexible film that shrink-wraps to your nails, Minx is durable and long lasting. Read: a surfer girl’s best friend.

This video shows our favorite pro surfers taking us through a step by step tutorial on how to properly apply Minx nails. Our friends at Minx sent us over a supply of the best nail accessory and let our girls have a little bit of fun.

Download of the Week: Eternal Summers “Able To”

Considering how we completely fell for Eternal Summers‘ most recent album, Silver, it should come as no surprise how excited we are for the Virginia trio’s upcoming release, The Dawn Of Eternal Summers. As the record’s title implies, it’s a collection of older tunes, starting with the band’s first EP (from 2009) and continuing through various other orphaned-out tracks, including a few choice covers by Guided By Voices and others. “Able To” perfectly captures Nicole Yun’s super-girly vocals and strummed guitar playing – an ideal tune for a sunny spring morning!

SF: I’ve just launched into the 2012 ASP World Tour season. I’m so excited to be competing none stop for the first part of the year. After training hard in the off season I’m feeling strong and ready for a great year. Next stop is Bells Beach, the wintery location is the longest standing World Tour event. It is an iconic event, so many of my Heroes are past champions of the event. For that very reason I’m very keen to get down there and start hooking into some fun waves.

Roxy: You’ve seen so much already, but we want to know…where are you headed next and what are you most looking forward to on the journey of your life?

Featured Artist: Young Prisms

The quartet of San Franciscans who make up Young Prisms aren’t old enough to have been picking up My Bloody Valentine, Slowdive, and Cocteau Twins records upon first release a couple decades ago, but you wouldn’t know it from listening to their powerful, yet alluringly hazy music. The band’s upcoming second album, In Between, pays homage to all those legendary acts, but does so in a way that’s fresh and exciting rather than shamelessly derivative.

Congratulations on Winning again, Sally!

Congratulations on Winning again, Sally!

This weekend, Sally Fitzgibbons won the ASP 6-Star Hunter Ports Women’s Classic at Merewether beach, Newcastle. This is Sally’s second ASP 6-Star win in a row!

Sally’s critical turns and smooth carves led her to domination in the final round against Malia Manuel from Hawaii.

Sally wants to use this momentum she has gained from these first few events and keep up the good rhythm at the ASP Rip Curl Women’s Pro event at Bells Beach.

Stay tuned for updates on the event and watch Sally live. The holding period begins April 3.

Go Sally!

Wear Green, Be Green

We’re embracing the green side of things in grand anticipation for St. Patty’s day by pulling out our Peace Trippin Tank in the turq print (lovin’ the tiny sharks) and flaunting an easy DIY sea urchin necklace we quickly crafted.

Feeling a little green? Don’t sweat it, just follow our easy arithmetic and you’ll be in luck – ‘Wear Green, Be Green’.

With so many shades of green there’s plenty to pick from. Our choice happens to be a gorgeous turquoise number that reminds us of the SEA. Now that we have our ‘Wear Green’ nailed down, it’s time to focus on the “Be Green”. Look to things you’ve collected and recycle what you aren’t using, or something straight from Mother Nature, to create that one-of-a-kind piece. We’ve use two ‘green’ SEA urchins and a piece of leather and with a couple easy knots and loops we made a statement necklace that will do it’s magic all summer long.

Have some fun this St. Patty’s day!
