All I can think about is the holidays- the lights around town, the window displays in the stores, and the fact that my roommate has been blasting Christmas tunes are just a few reminders that the holidays are near.  One of my all-time favorite things about the holidays is gift giving!

Why not spice things up a bit and go for some winter slippers or boots?! My personal favorite are the Just Chillin Boots, because I absolutely love patterns this winter. The Mark it Mine cosmetic bag and the Sometime laptop sleeve case  in are the perfect Roxy duo that any friend would be thrilled to unwrap.  Although store bought gifts are very thoughtful, receiving a homemade gift always brings a smile to my face- try a mixed CD, a picture frame, or handmade bracelets are all easy ways to give this winter!

Friday Inspiration: Even though Christmas is probably decking the halls of your school, office, or town, let’s not forget that the holiday season is a time to be thankful for the wonderful people around us and the opportunities we have been given!

Winter is here; ski hills are opening, flakes are falling, and the Roxy snow team is gearing up for a new season of adventures.  But before jumping full-on into winter travels, Torah Bright, Erin Comstock and Robin Van Gyn took the time to stop in at the Seattle, WA offices of Mervin Manufacturing (where Roxy snowboards are designed) to check out the future snowboard line at the annual Roxy, Gnu, and Lib Tech snowboard summit.  Each of the team riders discussed their brand new snowboards and how they are each involved in the design and construction of the snowboards – pretty cool huh! While at the office they were kind enough to stop by the photo copier and create something for the Roxy/Mervin crew to remember them by!

After hanging out at the office and stirring up a little bit of trouble the  team headed back to the mountains– to their real “day jobs”– where office chairs are chairlifts, board meetings are park laps with friends, and time cards are season’s passes.

Come out to Macy’s Ala Moana on November 20th to meet Roxy surf team athlete Kelia Moniz! She will be signing free ROXY posters from 5pm-7pm in the juniors department on level 2.  If you make a Roxy purchase that night you will receive a FREE Roxy tote bag!  Hope to see you there!

On Friday morning, November 4th, 2011 Roxy held our Spring 12 Press Preview in New York City. Roxy took over Pier 9, a beachy-chic restaurant in Hell’s Kitchen that evokes nostalgia from summer days spent by the ocean. From 9AM to 11 AM, editors from top magazines such as Elle, Fitness, Glamour, ESPN, Cosmopolitan and People StyleWatch gathered to view the Roxy Spring 2012 collection and chat with Roxy pro surfer Rosy Hodge. Editors let the sea set them free as they picked out pieces from the new Spring line that they want to include in upcoming photo shoots. The collection embodies the true spirit of Roxy, featuring an incredible selection of swim and denim alongside nautical and baja inspired sportswear pieces. Coral sunglasses were given as a parting gift as editors left the beachy oasis to return to winter in New York.

A side project for Woods bassist Kevin Morby and Vivian Girls guitarist/vocalist Cassie Ramone, The Babies kick out the sort of simple, hazy jams that sound tailor-made for us. The pair of Brooklynites share vocal duties on their sloppily – but lovingly – recorded tunes, all of which seem to have exuberant titles such as “Meet Me In The City” and “Run Me Over.” We’re so fond of the latter song, in fact, that we used it in our Fall/Winter Vibe video. The duo’s on tour in Europe at the moment, but they’ll be returning home to play some American dates shortly.

Whether you’ll be hitting the slopes this winter, or cuddling up in the cabin by the fire, everyone deserves a snowy getaway this season!  Here are some key items in your closet that will last you a weekend away.

Because you’ll only be gone for a few days, you’re going to want to pack light.  That means you can only bring one puffy jacket. (I know, I know, you want to bring them all!)  You’ll want something versatile, like the Snow Globe Jacket, which you can wear out in the snow to keep warm, but it also looks stylish while you’re having fun!   Next, you’ll need a sweater for cuddling fireside.  The Alpine Sweater should definitely be on your packing list; it’s cozy and festive. Pack a pair of your favorite jeans, along with a pair of comfy sweats and a thermal shirt, like the Mountain Lodge Pants, and the Log Cabin Shirt. Finally, a hat, gloves, and scarf are absolutely essential to looking cute and keeping warm during your winter getaway.  My personal favorite is the Northern Lights Beanie because it’s so colorful!
