Though Fort Lean’s story is fairly familiar – five young Brooklyn men form a rock band, play some gigs, and put out a record – their refreshingly earnest and straightforward sound might just be the perfect antidote for these convoluted times. They have a new four-song self-titled EP (available for free download on their Bandcamp page) full of Smiths-inspired tunes, with “Beach Holiday” and “High Definition” leading the jangle-and-croon charge. This is music for the young, hungry, and inspired.

Crafting 1960s-reminiscent rock and roll from languid vocals, rubbery rhythms, and surf guitar riffs, Texas’ Hacienda keep it in the family. The San Antonio quartet of three brothers Villanueva (Abraham, Jaime, Rene) and a cousin (Dante Schwebel) put together a six-song demo that caught the ears of Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys, who eventually recorded Hacienda’s debut album, Big Red & Barbacoa, at his home studio up in Akron, Ohio. Auerbach’s earthy production touches shine through on the reverb-heavy “As You Like It,” as featured in a recent video spotlighting our line of sweaters! Look for a new single “Savage” out now, and a new album this spring.

Norway native Siri Walberg has been recording internationally under the moniker Sissy Wish for nearly a decade, crafting a quirky, hypercatchy brand of indie pop that’s all her own. Walberg’s impressive vocal range recalls Bjork and Deborah Harry without sounding like either one of those legends, and we love her for it. Listen no further than “Ya Ya Ya” from her album Beauties Never Die, a tune that provides a bouncy soundtrack to our recent clip of Sally Fitzgibbons attacking Mexico’s waves.
