Now that summer’s over, are you already yearning for sunny days at the park or beach with friends? Summer Camp may be the band for you. The British group’s newly released “Better Off Without You” sounds like an instant beach party (albeit one that ends in a bitter breakup), with Elizabeth Sankey’s luscious croon giving Deborah Harry a run for her Blondie money. The track is the advance single from the forthcoming album, Welcome To Condale – and once it’s released, it’ll surely be a Roxy staple this fall!

Eighteen- year old “Sis” from the South Shore of Oahu surfed with power and grace, overtaking every heat from round one. In the final, she battled it out against Chelsea Williams from Australia in the shoulder to head high waves of Riyuewan Beach.
Williams opened the heat with a solid 6.83, but Moniz answered back with a 5.83, and followed up with a 5.0. Soon after, she backed those scores up with a 6.53, but Williams took the lead with her final wave, an 8.50 at the end of the heat. Kelia finished with an impressive 12.36 overall.
Another honorable mention, Kassia Meador never fails to entertain with her renowned style and technique. Kassi took third overall and 2nd in the world. Roxy Team Rider Jennifer Smith finished the year with third in the world. Congrats to the entire Roxy Surf Team for all their hardwork and accomplishments!
Available 10/26 – 11/2: We Are Augustines “Book of James”
Formed by ex-Pela members Billy McCarthy and Eric Sanderson, Brooklyn-based We Are Augustines released their debut album, Rise Ye Sunken Ships, this past summer. Much of the album’s material documents the most traumatic period of McCarthy’s life, which saw the guitarist lose both his mother and brother, as well as experience the dissolution of his band. McCarthy and Sanderson soon realigned their approach to music and brought aboard Rob Allen as We Are Augustines’ full-time drummer, and on the epic-sounding Rise Ye Sunken Ships, the trio taps a rich vein of emotional elements to create timeless Americana songs.

We’re sending out a massive congrats to June and Esthera of Peep Show Films and Roxy’s own Snow team Rider Robin Van Gyn!
Back in August we announced the premiere of Peep Show Films latest creation ‘Winter Wars’ on the Roxy Blog…2 months later, the all girls snowboard video project has gained loads of notoriety and was recently awarded ‘Best in Lo-Fi’ by ESPN. If you haven’t had a chance to see the film yet – it’s a must see!
We phoned in Robin Van Gyn who’s been busy soaking up the last bit of sunshine while surfing Mexico before the Winter season kicks off to congratulate her and the rest of the Winter Wars team.
Here’s what Robin has to say about the film, “Peep Show has made 4 films to date and I have been lucky enough to work with them on their last 2 films. The Lo-Fi process with Peep Show has been nothing short of amazing, girls filming each other on budget snowboard trips has made for a less serious take on snowboarding while keeping the progression alive. Great experiences make for great film. High fives to the Peep Show Crew!”
