After two successful albums (Cansei de Ser Sexy and Donkey) on Sub Pop, Brazilian dance rockers CSS have regrouped with a new album, La Liberación, to be released later this summer on V2. Recorded at the band’s own studio in São Paulo, the album rips with the signature vocals of Lovefoxxx and the throbbing disco bass of producer Adriano Cintra. It’s an awesome record and we’ve already been dancing to Dillon Francis’ wicked remix of the lead single, “Hits Me LIke a Rock.”

Feeling a little Blue? I am, but in the best way possible! How can one not be completely transfixed by the periwinkles, deep indigos, and now waterproof SPARKLE Bora Bora blue eyeliner from the Stila Loves Roxy collection (P.S. it’s available!). When I think of the beach I always imagine the bright blue skies, and envision the golden sands, but this particular weekend the blue wasn’t just in the water, but lay scattered across the sand and thus inspiring a blue obsession that can only be healed through retail therapy. Luckily, shopping by color was easy so I selected the color ‘Blue’ and was off. What a fun new way to shop- a unique new version of paint by numbers!

Some of my favorites include pieces from Roxy’s new Surf Denim like the Howlin’ Rails Flare jeans, as seen in this street look featuring the jeans against a turquoise blue door (yet another gorgeous shade of Blue). For more underwater action and a new summer movie classic I’ve picked up a copy of Blue Crush 2 and will continue living my blue fantasy. What are your favorite blue inspired picks this season?

Back in Persiher!

I’m finally back in OZ! I’ve been back home in Cooma hanging with my family and filming a new commercial spot at Perisher for HP. I’ve signed on as their new ePrint ambassador, which I’m really excited about and I can’t wait for the commercial to come out. It was a real family affair. My younger sister’s a hair stylist and was on the crew doing my hair and my Mum has a cameo in the actual commercial! Here are a few photos from the day and I’ll keep you posted on when the spot will start airing. Also, if you’re in Australia I’ll be on the Wide World of Sports this Sunday on channel 9!

While most of the country has beens sweating through record breaking heat, Roxy team rider Erin Comstock has been chilling out on the glacier of Mt. Hood, Oregon at one of the funnest places on earth: High Cascade Snowboard Camp. This week Erin and a bunch of talented Finnish pro snowboarders have hosted a session of camp. Fun activities have included snowboard clinics up on the mountain, meanwhile down at the camp site they’ve been flipping into foam pits, playing games of sting pong (where losers have to bare their back to the strike of a ping pong ball), dodge ball, and all-girl Roxy nights. Their still taking reservations for August sessions, so if you’re looking to beat the heat head to the hills!

What an amazing week at the Roxy Pro Biarritz. Team Roxy enjoyed everything there was to enjoy about the quaint French town and surfed and swam their hearts out! Lily Wood and the Prick and the Sounds played a free concert for the town and over 6,000 people came to boogie down!
Team rider Jennifer Smith finished Runner-up on the World Longboard Event as she took down her fellow team rider Kassia Meador in the semi-final in 2-3 foot surf at the Cote d’ Basques.

Petra Haden and Yuka Honda first met in the 1990s, back when Haden was a member of Los Angeles band that dog and Honda co-helmed Japanese outfit Cibo Matto. As each pursued solo careers (and Honda relocated to New York) in the years that followed, the pair began writing songs over long distances – and stretches of time – until enough material finally warranted an official name for their collaboration. If By Yes’ debut album, Salt On Sea Glass, is full of seductively paced songs perfect for summer playlists, and features Hirotaka “Shimmy” Shimizu (guitar) and Yuko Araki (drums) of Cornelius, as well as special guest cameos from David Byrne and guitarist Nels Cline.

These are the days when the sun is hot, the days are long, and our shorts are short! Ranking supreme on our denim radar for the rest of Summer and into Fall are the Sunset Drop Shorts.
