Hyde & ROXY present the best dance party the mountains have ever seen! Hyde (ROXY Heart’s) Dance Music kicks off tonight at 10pm @ Hyde Lounge, Mammoth. This party will happen every Thursday evening all season long, and all the ladies (and guys) who are in town are invited to come along!  Hyde (ROXY Heart’s) Dance Music is a lead up to the blow up party weekend of the year: The Roxy Chicken Jam!

Anchored by lead singer and songwriter Rain Phoenix (sister of Joaquin) and flanked by a revolving cast of collaborators, papercranes will release their second album this January through Manimal Vinyl (home to some of our other faves, Bat For Lashes, Warpaint, and Juliette Commagere). Titled Let’s Make Babies In the Woods, the record is a mesmerizing mix of gritty, psychedelia-tinged folk, propulsive rhythms, and orchestral expansiveness. The whole thing works because of Phoenix’s voice, which drips with soul and emotion, transitioning from airy whisper to a heartfelt wail, sometimes within the same song. The overall effect is like a night by the fire after a long day on the slopes. A lot like elementary school recess, the best part about snowboarding is spending time with friends playing outside. Roxy team rider, Kjersti Buaas, has made a career of this lifestyle, traveling around the world snowboarding with friends, filming video parts and winning contests. With some of her best friends she started One Life, an all girl snowboard crew that lives every minute in the moment- kind of like that popular girl clique on the playground, but a whole lot friendlier and fun loving. In this episode of the Roxy Refreshments, Kjersti and the One Life crew head to Tahoe to live their dream. The Cave Singers are a quiet, folky band that uses breezy instrumentation (shuffling acoustic guitars, fluttering flutes) to disguise slightly sinister elements lying beneath. The band’s two previous albums, Invitation Songs and Welcome Joy, have earned them both fans and critical respect. Our Holiday 2010 line has everything you need for the winter- whether you are spending it on the sunny beaches of Hawaii or in the crisp mountains of Bariloche, Argentina (where all of our Holiday pictures were taken). Our Head of Design, Summer Rapp, gave me some insight into her favorites for the season.

What is your must have item for Holiday? I love the laced jeggings in black! The cute lace-up detail in the back adds a unique twist to this traditional style.

Do you have any exciting plans for the holidays this year? I’m planning to stay in town and really get into the holiday spirit with my kids! Looking forward to relaxing, but planning some fun day adventures too!
