Jenny O. has been making music since she was a toddler: piano lessons at five, singing lessons at 9, followed by cello and upright bass, and a slew of home recordings on her father’s tape recorder. After moving to LA her rock career kicked into gear, with gigs singing background for Becky Stark, Rain Phoenix, and Bonnie Prince Billy. Now she’s about to release her debut EP Home, which shows influences ranging from jazz to the The Beatles, and a strong sense of composition across the board. We love Jenny for her commitment to her craft and her DIY spirit. Her music is folky, fresh and fun, and we’re excited to watch her progress!

Our Roxy crew is just home from a stellar weekend at Mammoth Mountain celebrating the official opening of snow season. Whether you can shred the slopes like Torah or barely make it down the bunny hills, hitting the mountains is a blast and an experience best shared with friends and lots of laughter. It seems celebs agree with this thinking too! Check out some of the people who have been caught showing their love of the snow. Something tells me this is a trend that will continue this season too. This has been quite a year for San Francisco’s The Fresh & Onlys: they received invitations to play All Tomorrow’s Parties and to support Clinic and Deerhunter on tour and released a handful of exclusive 7″ singles and the lush, anthemic August In My Mind EP. Finally, they released a full-length album, Play It Strange, on October 12th (on In The Red Records). Whew! Featuring Tim Cohen’s deep, romantic vocals, the sharp guitars of Wymond Miles, and the propulsive rhythms of Shayde Sartin and Kyle Gibson, Play It Strange was recorded and mixed in one week to better capture the heat of the band’s live performances. Be sure to catch them on the road this fall, and don’t sleep on their new single, “Waterfalls”, available right here!

Last New Years Eve, while most of us were likely celebrating with friends at a noisy party, Roxy teamrider Erin Comstock boarded a plane and sped into the New Year, crossing time zones and international datelines, and touching down in the frozen city of Helsinki, Finland to kick off her season of filming with a bang. In near round the clock darkness and below freezing temps, Erin battled the elements, and with a little help from her friends, she had her most successful and fun trip to date. So to get fired up for the season to come, just tap up the volume and press PLAY.

Sometimes we hear a new band and can’t wait to write about them. Such is the case with Seapony, a Seattle-based threesome that’s all about old fashioned, guitar driven pop, with lyrics about summer, dreaming, love – all the good stuff. And this crew works fast: despite only forming in June, the band just released a self-titled 3 song EP that you can stream on their website. We hope you love it as much as we do.

Roxy athletes from all over the globe came together last week for a camping/surf trip up the beautiful coast of California.  The fabulous and oh so fun crew consisted of Kassia Meador (US), Ornella Pellizzari (Argentina), Pandora Decoster (France), Candice O’Donnell (UK), and Jenn Smith (US) . These five little adventure seekers put their new Ford Fiesta’s to the test, loading them up with boards,wetsuits,musical instruments, camping gear, the works! The girls absolutely scored on sunny weather and fun waves.  Just another week in the life of our gorgeous and talented roxy girls. Be sure to check out more photos from the road trip here!

She may not focus on Slopestyle, but Roxy rider Torah Bright definitely focuses on her style for the slopes!  It’s no wonder that Lucky Magazine’s market editor, and good friend of Roxy’s, Jenny Kang sought out this darling Australian shredder for inspiration to look good this Winter.  The clip above pays tribute to all the BRIGHT ideas Torah has when it comes to fashion.  This isn’t the first time Torah has offered up expert advice.  Just last year, Lucky turned to Torah for beauty advice about products to keep your hair shiny and smooth, even after a season of sleet and snow.

Torah’s stylish sensibility is not a recent discovery either. She’s been lending her looks to Roxy for the past three years to create the Roxy Bright Edition series.  With an eye for detail and sophistication, her gear boasts amazing details like the utilitarian-inspired buckles on her jacket and the dazzling rhinestones on her goggles.

Back in September, Peruvian surfer Sofia Mulanovich set up camp in Huntington Beach as part of the Red Bull “under my wings” surf mentor program. Sofia spent the afternoon helping young local Latina surfers develop their skills in the water and providing words of wisdom. Naturally we came down to support her and we gifted these motivated surfers with board shorts & flip flops  See our behind-the-scenes photos above.

I spotted our awesome accessories designer, Briana, yesterday and asked her some quick questions to share with you about our holiday AX line.

Holiday in Helsinki, Finland

Where did you get your inspiration for the Holiday line? Holiday 2010 is all about mixing. So we got our inspiration from all over- Tokoyo to London to New York City to the beaches of southern California!

What is your must-have accessory for the holiday season? It’s all about layering this winter- so I love the Vivienne Socks. They look great on their own or peeking out from the top of boots. I’m also loving the Oma Satchel- I can’t get enough of metal zippers and patchwork fabric mixing!

What are your plans for the holidays this year? I am stocking up on sweaters and long underwear to brave the cool air of Helsinki, Finland. Can’t wait!
