So the weekend is over and you need a tune to get you started on this sleepy Monday. Well, look no further than Menomena, who are happy to provide the musical jolt you desire. This Portland, Oregon trio, consisting of Brent Knopf, Justin Harris, and Danny Seim, plays an uppity, quirky, harmony-laden brand of indie rock that utilizes all sorts of instruments, from saxophones to glockenspiels, alongside the traditional setup of guitar, bass, and drums. Roxy’s own Tatiana Weston-Webb (Kauai’) has been crowned champion of both the Girls Under 14 and Under 16 divisions at the 2010 Surfing America USA Championships at Lower Trestles, California!!! As she gracefully slashed her way to the top, spectators were left wide eyed as she strategically picked off the bomb set waves all week at Lowers! Charging! Good girl Tati!! Congrats on your double win.

We were lucky enough to catch the little blonde fish out of the water long enough for a quick Q and A:

You must have been so psyched to get some sweet waves at lowers during the comp. Had you been training beforehand at all? Were you practically living at lowers before the competition started?

“Yes, I was super psyched to have great waves at Lowers. Actually I wasn’t surfing lowers that much because I knew there would be a crowd. So I was just surfing a LOT.”

How does it feel to take out some of this countries top up and coming girl surfers?
“I can’t even explain the feeling. I’m just so stoked!”

What’s next for Tatiana Weston-Webb?

“My next step hopefully is to do some jr. pros and beat some very well known names.”
